The California Voting Rights Act (CVRA) has made it easier for minority groups to sue school districts (or cities) that use at-large elections. In 2024, Fremont Union High School District, which covers the entire area of CUSD, transitioned from at-large elections to by-trustee-area elections. Mountain View Los Altos High School District is also in the process of transitioning to by-trustee-area elections as of the end of February 2025. Any at-large California school district or city may receive an attorney letter at any time to trigger such a transition. Please click here<\/a> for more information.
