It’s election season in Cupertino, and along with the usual mailers and yard signs, we’re hearing something less welcome: reports of campaign signs being pulled, damaged, or placed on people’s property without permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s easy to dismiss a missing lawn sign as small-time mischief. I don’t see it that way. A yard sign is a small but real act of political speech \u2014 often the main way a grassroots campaign gets heard \u2014 and when signs are stolen or planted without consent, it chips away at the fairness of our local elections. It should bother us no matter whose name is on the sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ve put together a short,\u00a0candidate-neutral<\/strong>\u00a0survey to learn how common these experiences are in our community \u2014 and what you think should be done about them.
