Long Jiao: Education First, Fiscal Responsibility, Community Engagement

The Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) faces critical challenges that demand effective leadership. CUSD has failed to gain voters’ support for two needed parcel taxes. Additionally, despite a $10M surplus in 2021, CUSD closed two schools, losing students to private institutions. Now the 2024 budget reveals a staggering $33M deficit due to nonessential spending. We must demand fiscal accountability.

As a parent of a recent high school graduate who spent 8 years in CUSD, I empathize with the high expectations for academic excellence, while balancing it with extracurricular activities for a well-rounded child.

As a parent of a current 4th grader, I know the importance of meeting individual student needs of this generation who are born in a technological world. They need to strengthen their emotional intelligence through genuine human interaction.

As a tech professional, I have utilized tech tools to improve community engagement, rather than isolate us in social media bubbles.

I pledge to prioritize community engagement and educational excellence while maintaining fiscal responsibility and advocating for greater transparency within CUSD.

Vote for me to secure a bright future for our students!
