Good evening, board members and staff,
My name is Long Jiao. In my previous remarks, I emphasized that residents are the true owners of the school district. Today, I want to focus on the roles of parents, children, and teachers.
Parents are responsible for their children’s future and well-being. To support parents and ensure that the younger generations receive a quality education, communities fund school districts. However, parents still have significant control over their children’s education, as they can choose to move to different school districts or opt for alternative schooling options.
Teachers, hired by school districts, are entrusted with providing education to our children. Parents and teachers should share the same goal: to deliver an excellent education to students. Teachers are experts in education and should be seen as partners for parents. Whenever parents, especially multiple parents, share the same or similar complaint, the teacher and district should reflect on how to improve the teaching. By working together, teachers and parents can ensure the success of our students.
Thank you.
