Equity Grading – Survey #10

I am Long Jiao, a board member of the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD), committed to engaging our community on important issues through surveys. My goal is to keep you informed and understand your perspectives. (Note: This survey is conducted solely by me and does not represent the entire CUSD board.)

Our recent survey highlighted varied views on equity in education. I observed that providing essential resources to all students while allowing opt-outs is often seen as positive equity, whereas reducing educational quality to achieve equity is viewed critically. View the results here.

In May 2025, the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) proposed, then withdrew, an equity grading plan due to community opposition. This proposal offers a chance to explore grading fairness. For details, click here.
