I am Long Jiao, a board member of the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD), committed to engaging our community on important issues through surveys. My goal is to keep you informed and understand your perspectives. (Note: This survey is conducted solely by me and does not represent the entire CUSD board.)
Our recent survey on equity grading revealed diverse views, with many favoring support for underperforming students without lowering academic standards. View the results here.
In June 2025, the Supreme Court issued a preliminary injunction in “Mahmoud v Taylor”, affirming parents’ rights to opt their children out of LGBTQ-themed instructional materials in schools, citing the First Amendment’s free exercise of religion clause. This ruling impacts all U.S. school districts, including CUSD. For details, click here.
Please share your thoughts on LGBTQ-themed materials and parents’ rights by completing this brief survey: https://voting.pofetl.com/optin/6885baf0a8f24758894051ad

Question 3. Which of the following topics, if covered in the classroom, would you prefer your child to opt out of? (Select all that apply) In CUSD, the actual opt-out process involves contacting the principal via email. For details, click here.
