Upholding the Social Contract: Ensuring Quality Education and Community Engagement (9/26/2024)

Good evening, board members and staff,

My name is Long Jiao, and I am running for the CUSD board.

I want to remind everyone of the social contract between residents and the school district: residents pay their taxes, and the district provides quality education. It’s that simple. Residents are the bosses of the district.

Our board members are elected to ensure this contract is upheld. Recently, some families have unenrolled their children from CUSD, and surprisingly, no exit surveys were conducted. This is a missed opportunity for improvement. I urge the district to send exit surveys to these families to gather feedback and better serve our community.

Additionally, there is a petition circulating in the community about curriculum integrity and the adoption of BP 6144, Instruction on Controversial Issues. I urge the board to start the conversation about curriculum integrity immediately and adopt BP 6144 without delay. By the way, Fremont Union High School District already adopted BP 6144.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
